Caluso is a small town, immersed in green fields, hills and vineyards of the Canavese area, north of Turin, surrounded on the horizon by the mountains linking Piedmont and the Aosta Valley with Switzerland and France.
Caluso is at 30 minute car ride from Turin, 45 minutes from Aosta, 60 minutes from Milan, 90 minutes from Genoa, 2 hours from both Geneva and Lugano.
The Canavese area is one of the most dynamic of Italy, with a strong vocation for research and innovation and also a good quality of life.
Excellent international connections, surrounded by countyside, with the Alps on the horizon, woods, hills, vineyards, castles, a few quite beautiful lakes, research and culture centres in the van in the world and many technologically advanced companies.
Our training centre is at Villa Santonè. Built in 1884 according to the plans of Angelo Santonè, one of the protagonists of the Piedmontese liberty style and eclecticism, it is a villa of elegant austerity immersed in a small park and represents one of the first architectural evidence of the European liberty style with a strong Swiss influence.
The villa has been restored using a specialist’s method which has allowed to insert a hyper-technological core, though in full observance of the restored original frescos and structures. At the entrance of the small park surrounding it, there is Lancillotto a space meant for the trainees’ work.
In the outskirts of Caluso there are the natural park of the lake of Candia, the castles and old residences of the Savoy aristocracy of Mazzè, San Giorgio, Agliè and Rivarolo, the mountain landscapes of the upper Canavese including Valchiusella and the small towns of Castellamonte and Cuorgnè, the lake of Viverone, Ivrea and the villages at the entrance of the Valley of Aosta with the “balmetti”, old vaults excavated in the rocks, the Rivara castle and its precious museum of contemporary art, the open air museum of Torre Canavese with its frescos and wall paintings on the houses of the village.
Then, there are also the striped vineyards of the Monferrato and Langhe districts, Turin with its refined urbanistic aspect, the rice-fields and the water landscapes of the Vercelli area, the other Piedmontese cities and small towns with their discreet beauty, the luxuriant countryside, the mountains and big lakes at the borders with Lombardy and Switzerland.
